Backup

Currently, we back up our file server and the front-end node of our HPC cluster completely. We also back up all /home folders on all workstations. We run a biweekly complete backup and a daily differential backup. We use an LTO 3 tape library, which is attached to our file server. The backup starts at midnight. It is automatic and hence requires no user actions. To restore lost files, however, users should email the CCB system administrator.

Archiving

Because the tapes in the library are being used for a daily backup, archiving is done on request. Please place your data to be archived on the file server, if possible, and email a request to the CCB system administrator to archive the files.
